Children learn gratitude by seeing it, saying it and doing it, a little every day. Small routines at home make the biggest difference.
Easy ways to start
- Three good things at dinner. Everyone shares three good things from their day.
- Model it. Say thank you out loud, to your child and in front of them.
- Bedtime reflection. Ask, "What was the best part of your day?"
- Thank you notes. Help your child write or draw a thank you for a teacher, grandparent or friend.
- Kindness together. Do one kind act as a family each week.
At school and at home
If your child's school uses Growing With Gratitude, the GWG Parent Portal shares the same habits your child is learning in class, so you can practise them together at home.
