Young children learn gratitude best through play, pictures and talking with others. Keep activities short, concrete and repeated often.
- Gratitude Garden. Students draw a flower and write or draw one thing they are thankful for on each petal. Add to the class garden each week.
- Thank you circle. Sitting in a circle, each child thanks the person next to them for something specific.
- Gratitude show and tell. Students bring or draw something they are grateful for and share why.
- Three good things. At pack-up time, the class names three good things that happened today.
- Thank you cards. Students make a card for someone who helps at school, such as the cleaner, librarian or crossing supervisor.
