Kindness activities for the primary classroom

Kindness grows when students notice it, practise it and see the difference it makes.

  1. Random acts of kindness challenge. Each student chooses one small act of kindness to do this week and reports back.
  2. Kindness spotters. Each day, a few students secretly watch for kind acts and share them at the end of the day.
  3. Compliment chain. Paper links with a compliment for a classmate, joined into a chain that grows across the room.
  4. Kindness at home. Students plan one act of kindness for their family.
  5. Buddy class. Older students read with or help younger students.

Kindness is one of GWG's five habits of happiness, alongside gratitude, empathy, service and positive reflection.
